11th Annual New Year's Day Peak Bag

Post by outdoor_lover »

Anyone ready for a party? While #10 and #11 were not back to back years, (5 year gap actually, due to life and age getting in the way), I'm back now with pretty new knees and I can still plan, bake and hike! Just not all at the same time!

January 1, 2026! Save the date!
9:30 a.m. Save the time!
Black Cross Butte! Save the place.

Come with appetites and extra room in your pack, there will be Bubbly and treats!

From what I've found out, Black Cross Butte is easier, now that a use path has been established over the years, which cuts out the serious scrambles that I did quite a few years ago. So don't think that this may be "too" difficult. You can certainly opt to do the scrambles on the way back to make a loop out of it if you want to make things sportier. There is also a Chalcedony Alcove/Cave not far from the Butte route to visit as a bonus.. Check more recent triplogs for route and details.

Would love to see some old friends and meet some new ones, so come join us and help ring in the New Year in HAZ style!

Truly wish I could be there. Enjoyed visiting with you. Maybe I can get out and hike Flat Top that day, and give you a call from the summit, haha!

I'm going to bump this up to the top in case people have missed it. So far, 7 confirmed, and 2 on the fence. That's not including friends that the confirmed might be bringing with. Those of you who are confirmed, if you could let me know if you have any +1s coming with or in Terry's case, +1 or more??? It's been awhile since I've seen the harem. :D I would like to get a better idea of the numbers right after Christmas so I can plan a bit better. Don't want to end up short with the party supplies and such. :y:

Almost time! Not too late to join in. Preparing the goodies tomorrow. Looks like the weather will not necessarily be on our side, but hopefully it will be intermittent and light. Bring rain gear to be safe and if we have to come up with a plan B, so be it. Right now we are at 10 "committed".

@Nightstalker
Totally understand and Thanks for letting me know. Happy New Year Terry!
@rayhuston
See you tomorrow Ray! :D

I'm hoping that this storm will be similar to the Christmas storm. Mostly on and off light drizzle. The predicted totals are light comparedt to the storms this fall.
