Along those same lines, here's a web page that compares a variety of NiMH batteries. The main difference is that it's geared towards digital cameras, which are extremely high drain compared to GPS units. In those conditions, Alkaline cells don't last anywhere near as long, but it appears from that other test that they seem to fare much better in low drain conditions. Anyway, here's the link:
