Pregnant and Looking For Good Hikes

Post by plumbhiking »

We are looking for short (1-5 mile) round trip hikes with small elevation gains (1-500 feet) preferrably in the east valley or Superstition Mountains. My wife is pregnant and wants to continue hiking but Peralta is just too much of a workout right now.

Please let us know if you have any suggestions.

Tried Hieroglyphic Trail in the Superstitions and had a great time -- similar hikes would be great!

Thanks

Garden Valley Loop is within that range but watch out for mud if it's been raining

In response to ajcanable's reply:

Thanks for the reply, AJCanable. Yes, we have been on Garden Loop trail before and we agree that it is a good hike for us.

Let us know if there are any other you would recommend.

If you haven't been to boyce thompson yet, it's worth a trip. It's touristy this time of year, but it's a nice walk with a lot of different plant life.

Also consider Jacobs Crosscut, or an out and back on the dutchmans trail from firstwater trailhead.

A few other suggestions:

Lost Goldmine Trail
Prospector's View LDSP
Treasure Loop LDSP

Lots of easy hikes in Usery Park in Mesa

Congrats!

Try the Butcher Jones nature trail, it is about 5.5 miles round trip from the parking area to the end and then back. Elevation gain is around 150 a great day hike, with views of Saguaro Lake, plus there are bathrooms at the parking area, and a help phone if needed. I take this trail for the middle of the week not too much use then. Not sure now it is on the weekend. This is off of Bush Highway from the Beeline hwy. Easy to get to from east valley at least for me.
