Coyote Opera
Taking a pause from a night hike last night, I viewed the night sky looking for a falling star to make a wish. When a coyote came by. The coyote took a seat nearby, I assume unaware of my presence. The coyote started to yip, howl and break out into song. At times it would sing while standing up and continue upon sitting back down. The range of voice, tone and inflection was such that it sounded like a couple of coyotes. After several minutes the coyote was joined by others both near and far and spent the next quarter of an hour in song. Never did see a falling star.

That is so cool. I used to live in an area that I could hear that. Now, I'm surrounded by construction and freeways. It also reminded me of a time in Ontario Canada, camping on a small island and listening to a symphony of loons. It's been years since I've heard the sound of a loon. Mary
