Can someone recommend a specific scale (mfg/model number) for weighing gear? I'd prefer a digital scale. I'd like to find one scale that would do it all: from weighing shoelaces/matches, etc., to a 60 lb pack (or more). It should be accurate to a fraction of a gram/ounce, and be able to read out in either (grams/ounces). I've searched high and low, but can seem to find one that would meet these criteria. Anyone have a scale like this that they're happy with?
Thanks,
Jerry

I very much doubt the existence of a commercial product with such accuracy over the full range you wish. However, you can do pretty well with two scales. I use a Teraillon digital kitchen scale, which handles up to 2 kg (4.4 lbs) and is accurate to about 1/8 oz., and a Tanita bathroom scale/body fat monitor (BF-682) that is accurate to .2 lbs. I weigh most items individually on the kitchen scale, and combined (on my back) on the bathroom scale.

I haven't received it yet, as I just ordered it this weekend, but I bought an UltraShip 75 by My Weigh. It's a postal scale. http://www.oldwillknott.com/cgi-bin/htm ... 0/OldWill2
I don't know how it will perform, but I'll post a review here after I've given it a trial.

Say, whatzit?... =:o)big_load wrote:In response to xxxclimber's reply:
The specs are pretty impressive; such accuracy in the high range is very unusual. I wonder if it has a built-in temperature sensor or thermal control and a bunch of processing to compensate the non-ideal characteristics of the pressure transducer.
