Seeking Crazy Hike-Bike Partners

Post by hikenbike »

: rambo : Seeing if any one is interested in a hike\bike trip that will commence on May 27th. So far (as today) this is a solo affair.

So far this is what I have planned! Leave Phoenix via Greyhound to Flagstaff. From there I will take a shuttle to the Grand Canyon and make a assualt to the north side. Upon my return to the south I will head back to Flagstaff and pick up my mtn bike. From there I will head to Mt. Humphrey for a day hike. I am using a bike trailor to lug my backpack and supplies. Lots of sightseeing on this trip as I head south.

What is the reward of this mad-silliness! NONE- What I offer in return is a Marines spirit that "no one gets left behind". As far as the bike portion- I am not a Lance Armstrong and do not pedel like it is the Indy 500 but can do a lot faster then a turtle.

I am riding my mt. bike back to Phoenix and have picked a few routes that I have an interest in. I do plan on heading to Childs but am a little concerned on the trails that are on the west side of the river. I have been told that I might be draging my bike for 4 to 5 miles vertical as I head to Bloody Basin (7 Springs). I would like to know if anyone has ever hiked to Dugas from the Verde. I thought of rafting to Horseshoe but would have to leave my bike behind....... and with the "nuts" at Childs I would never see my bike.

I am also seeking support from you fellow hikers for possible rest stops, place to crash and to charge my electronic gizmos.

Again! if any one is interested in this crazy adventure please email off line ( azbootcamp@yahoo.com ) or call me 623-261-7556.

This trip should last at least 7 to 9 days. Any suggestions, support, hiking and biking partners, let me know as the clock is a ticking away...come on- I know you want to go besides when was the last time you did something crazy of off the wall.....think of the tan and leg muscles you will get....
