Hannah Canyon
Ive been thinking about a trip to hannah canyon and the hot springs, however i havent been able to find a very good route in, i read the blue river trail 101, and im not too sure about the route they took, i also have been looking at a map of the blue range, if anybody knows a good route in that would be great

Dude, you got me curious. This is an area I need to explore. It takes so long to get there though.
If Hannah Canyon is where I think it is, I would take the 101 north to the confluence with Ash Creek. Then follow Ash Creek to Hannah Canyon? The "trail" following Ash Creek is labeled 541.
I have no idea if this helps. It's probably the same info that you already have.

I've been there... hiking north up the 101 trail would likely be the most "express" route (likely 2.5 to 3 hours in the Blue), especially coming from the Az.side. If you were starting in NM & wanted some 4x4 adventure, there are shorter routes.
I believe that the canyon you want when leaving the Blue is Little Blue Creek, but I'm not certain what it's called - Ash Creek it could be.
Waypoint at the junction is about 33 22.48 x 109 10.585.
Anyway, head up this Sycamore lined canyon maybe an hour or a bit more to the first legitimate canyon on the right.... that is Hannah.
The water will not feel warm at the confluence.
Waypoint here is about 33 23.884 x 109 9.37.
Head up Hannah maybe 10-15 minutes & you'll see (hopefully) the hot spring on your left about 6' above the creek level. There is a small soaking pool with a small camping area right across the creek from it.
A larger camp lies just downstream from the hot spring on creek right & on a bench about 30-40 feet above the creekbed
As you further head up Hannah there is some really awesome canyoneering (small to 0 exposure, but really pretty). It goes on for merely a mile or so, but it's all white & gray granite & as I said, really nice.
The drive out there, obviously, to the T/H is far (at least from Phoenix) - but it's a great trip.
A high clearance vehicle should be used for the last few miles in, to be safe.
Water is reliable in the Blue (yuck) and LittleBlue/Ash in places, as well as good water in Hannah. (not the hot stuff)
If you need some add'l data, please PM to me your # & I'll give you a call.

I posted most times/mileages in my post, but to recap, it's +/- 2-3 hours from the lower T/H up to the turnoff @ Little Blue/Ash. Then, maybe, an hour-and-a-half up it to the turn-off at Hannah. You can do the whole of Hannah in about 45 min to an hour (although the hot spring is but 15-20 minutes up).Crocodile Ryan wrote:, about how far from start to end??
These times, for the most part, exclude rest periods, and are for fit hikers - so if you rest often, please tack on that duration.
