Anyone ever take the Verde river??
A friend and I are planning a trip in the spring and I am trying to find information from any source I can to see if this trip is possible. We both hunt and guide here and are semi familiar with the Verde as it comes off the mountains. Now that the Childs power plant is closed we want to hike in below flowing springs with a couple kayakes and wet bags and take it as far as it will go maybe into Horse shoe. Can this be done?

I've thought about doing something similar to this in the spring. Here's some links to information I've found out about it.

In response to joshsteele99's reply: Sure Josh, it can be easily done...Did it twice in an inflatable canoe. both times in low water conditions. no problems. It is a wonderful trip and is even easier than the Beasley to Childs leg of the river. saw NO other people until horseshoe.be prepared..use wetbags and a wetsuit if you do it in winter and you will have a great time. Take a camera. Its beautiful country.
