Anyone hiked this recently?
I'm new to the hiking scene, and wanted to know if the Tonto Narrows area is open (considering wildfire season) and what the water level is like? I'm about to take a group of friends up there, so want to make sure everything's kosher before I head out. Appreciate your help, thanks!

I was there a little over a week while much of the water hikes to the north were closed. Tonto Narrows wasn't affected by the closures and the water level is great, maybe only a foot below the high mark on the rocks. Still many swimmers and diving spots. If you have the time, I'd recommend wading/swimming/boulder hoping up the creek to the upper narrows about 2.5 miles up. There is a trail on the rim, but it's not as scenic or adventurous.

Hiked the creek yesterday, and it was excellent. Lots of great swimming holes along the way. Checked out the upper trail for a bit, and you're right it's boring. Promptly headed back down to the creek. Even caught a thunderstorm on our way out, which was a nice way to cool off. Thanks for your help on this!
