But you already know that. Anybody got directions to here: the West Fork of the Black River.
Thanks

There are several ways to get there. FR 68, mentioned in the link already given, is off 249E. First you need to get to Big Lake. I think 273 is now closed for reconstruction, so you'll need to take 260 almost all the way into Eagar. Take 261, the Big Lake Highway, to Hwy 273/FR 113. Turn left, go past Crescent Lake and past the turnoff to Big Lake. Go past the cattle guard, and the road turns to gravel. Turn right on 249E. Go about 2 and 1/2 miles, turn left on FR 68. Watch for the trail kiosk. You can also access this trail via the Indian Springs trailhead on 249E. Take Indian Springs Loop trail to the W. Fk. turnoff. Go down to the river, then back to Indian Springs, and complete the loop. This will be 13 miles. It is easy hiking as it was designed for mtn. biking.
You can also take 249 E to where it crosses the West Fork of the Black River. Park and walk SSE along the creek. There is an old road to walk on, and also a trail along the creek. Somewhat popular for fishing.
Don't get West Fork of the Black River trail mixed up with the other West Fork Trail, along West Fork of the Little Colorado, out of Greer, which connects with the West Baldy Trail. This is also a very nice trail. Trailhead is on Osborn Rd. in Greer, about 1/4 mile up from the Rendezvous Diner. Very easy to miss kiosk on left side of Osborn Rd. as there is no parking area.
It would be good if you could get yourself an Apache-Sitgreaves NF map. Although many of the trails are not on the map, most of the road info is fairly accurate. Also the Springerville RD just came out with a new trail guide a couple of weeks ago, with some of the newer trails added.

You might be better off not hearing of David Lee Roth (although he's pretty funny and a lot smarter than he acts), but Stephen Hawking is well worth knowing about, even if you're not a geek like me. You should google him and find out more. I highly recommend "A Brief History of Time" for any non-technical folks seeking a glimpse into the world of physics.azbackpackr wrote:PS I have never heard of those two guys in your poll about the fist fight--have never seen their names before.
