Forest Road 143 Conditions??
What is Forest Road 143 like for traveling? Able to do it in a car? Need 4-wheel drive?

Re: Forest Road 143 Conditions??
I haven't been up there in a while, but it was always passable when I have been there. Even did it with a small amount of snow one time. Been up there twice in a Honda Accord and once in a VW Golf. If not something I recommend doing if you like your car though, it is a rough ride that will take you an hour for the 20 miles or so. I did bottom out a few times but that was almost always do to driving too fast.

In response to Krause86's reply:
I just did it on New Year's Day. It's pretty dry, no bad wet spots to bog down on. very bumpy in places, some divots in the road, but a medium clearance car should handle it. As you climb the last section right up to the top (last 1.5 mile before the junction in the road to the TH) there is a section with alot of rocks. Very bumpy, but still passable. A 4Wd is definitely not needed, but I would recommend a high clearance vehicle if you can get one.
