Trek to Everest Base Camp

Post by Al_HikesAZ »

Dave Richardson will show photos and talk about his trek through the Himalayas to the Mount Everest Base Camp. Come experience Dave's adventure at our monthly Arizona Outdoor Travel Club (AOTC) meeting this Tuesday March 6 at 7:00PM at Hotel Scottsdale (formerly Fairfield Inn) at 5101 N. Scottsdale Rd.

Dave is a professional speaker, a gifted photographer and a former President of AOTC (oh yeah - and a fun guy). Over 15 days on this trek he gained/lost 42,000 feet, covered 125 miles in -9degree weather and survived a brush with vertigo.

Normally there is a $5 cover charge for non-AOTC members, but for the first 10 HAZ members to find me at the meeting, I will personally cover your fee.

Last month we had an excellent presentation on the Eastern Sierras and we finalized the arrangements for this summer's hiking in Hawaii with Jon Kimoto. This month we are trying to finalize the arrangements for the Mount Kilimanjaro trip. About a dozen members have recently been hiking through New Zealand. I'm not sure if they will be back by this month's meeting, but they will definitely be at the April meeting and I'm sure they can provide you insight into hiking in New Zealand.
