parsons spring trail to winter cabin trail

Post by psychochick7 »

My friends and I have been talking about this for a while finally decided to do the research. We are all born and raised here in AZ and have hiked both trails seperatley. however there is a vast expanse of the sycamore wilderness you don't see. Is this hike possible?

of course its possible. I did the trail from Kelsey over to winter cabin, over to sycamore and then up sycamore to little LO, and back to Kelsey. That was of course a shorter "in the creekbed" hike but I have a general idea of the area. I also spent some time in little LO canyon where the narrows run for a short distance. A group from Friends hiking club did Parsons to the Dogie trail and then back to Parsons cross country. Your trip sounds doable.

Me too! Sounds like a great trip.

Psychochick7, your little town of Cottonwood is growing on me. I like the surrounding area a lot. I had a fantastic breakfast at Georgie's Cafe on Sunday morning. Do you know that place? I thought it was excellent.

k- I just checked out some maps and it looks like 17-20 miles of Sycamore canyon. Better make this one a 3 day trip, something like this:
day 1, hike in 10 miles filling up water at Parsons (mile 4)
day 2, hike in 7-8 miles to the confluence with the Winter Cabin trail
day 3, take winter cabin trail over to the end where it terminates with (525c?)

sounds like a good one and the car shuttle wont be too bad. How have I overlooked this little gem before?

we are planing on 5 days so we have plenty of time to absorb and enjoy our surroundings. we figure if we go next month there should still be plenty of pools in the canyon so we can filter most of the water we need and the temps won't be to high yet. we have friends in flag to extract us when we arrive. I just didn't know if any of the land was "off limits" to hikers or even possibly shear cliffs that would really cause a problem.

Yes I know georgie's cafe I eat there regularly. I love this area.
