Re: i need a bowl
Those folding bowls are neat, but I don't think they hold 8 cups, maybe I've only seen the small ones?

Re: i need a bowl
I use the Orikaso coffee cup and the discontinued version of the Orikaso bowl. I thought they were gimmicky when they first came out, but people I respect seemed to like them so I gave them a try. I'm glad I did. When they unfold (flat), they take up practically no space and will conform to the outer curve of the food bag or other such space.

Re: i need a bowl
Could you merely add the potatoes to the pot in which you heated the water?
I sometimes use a Gatorade/Powerade bulk powder container as a bowl. (it's likely only about 3 cups, though.. maybe TWO!) A Reflectix 'coozie' will keep your spuds warmer longer.

If you want to go really MacGuyver you can use a few layers of molded tin foil. Cheap, light, and effective
