Black River trip
I will be headed to the black river close to the ten of diamonds area sept 25th - 28th. Will be "car" camping and be doing day hikes from camp to enjoy the area, see wildlife, and FISH! Although this is technically "car" camping, there are no developed camp sites nor running water (other than the river) nor bathrooms, you need to dig your own out here! Anyone interested in going and doing some day hikes and fishing? If not I guess it will be another solo trip. Only thing I hate is paying the fees for the special use permits ($20/day) on the reservation, although in a way I am happy because the price of the permits scare a lot of ppl away and it keeps the area low on visitors. Shown are maps with a hiking route I have used in the past as well as many many good fishing holes marked along the way. I usually go to this area anywhere from 3 - 5 times a year and am very familiar with the area. If you are interested in going and have never been to the area, email me and we can talk about it and if you decide to go I can supply great directions. One note, although monsoon season is over and I have on one occasion seen a car back there, you will need a truck that has decent ground clearance and is at least a pre-runner or 4wd. The road in turns to dirt once you reach the point of pines area and from there on the road can be very rough and difficult given the weather the few previous days.

Re: Black River trip
Figured I would go ahead and post some pics from the area for anyone that may be interested in going....
Antelope on the way in Spotted this bear at the end of the day during about a 2hr hike back to the trail head A few catches from the river and some dinner on the stringer waiting to be cleaned Deer trotted right out into the river as we were fishing this particular area and stood there and watched us for a couple of seconds before running off
Looking back down river from my most favorite fishing spot on the river a friend and I nicknamed "Log Pool"
Turkey crossing the road on the way in and another shot of some turkey more close to camp

Re: Black River trip
Haven't seen that section of river, have hiked a good portion of river but all in National Forest. Sounds interesting. Not able to go, though, sorry. Sometime I might like to pick your brain about Rez section of river.
