Can rechargeable batteries be used with GPS units?

Post by cactusrose63 »

I want to be ecologically responsible and was hoping to get a GPS unit that has the capability to use rechargeable batteries. Is this option available with ALL GPS units??? Thanks.

For rechargeable batteries, nickel-metal hydrides (NiMH) tend to perform slightly better in cold. Lithium ion seem to last the longest and hold a better overall charge, but you pay for that performance. NiCads=bad news.
