Trail near Cat mountain Tucson Question

Post by EMWAZ »

We hiked up the same trail to Cat mountain but went around the other mountain, are these all just a junction off of Cat mountain trail or do they have names? Went 3.2 miles around, beautiful and perfect weather.

By the way glad to have found this forum and I'm pretty much a novice hiker. I hiked a lot about 10 years ago and now I want to get back to doing it again.

Does the trail you connected with then go on to connect to Golden Gate trail, by any chance? The one is an old mine trail whose name has probably been lost to antiquity, but I have heard the name "Cat Back Trail" used in the past to describe a route that terminates near the base of the one monolith atop that mountain...Those trails are heavily used by mountain bikers, so someone who's into that might know of official names.

There was another breakoff trail that went towards golden gate trail so you could be correct. Thanks I'm trying to learn the names, etc., get familiar with all the trails out there.

The Tucsons have needed a definitive trail guide for a long time, actually. I'll touch base with Joe and see if we can all develop one on here, collectively...

I really have looked for one, its nice to know it doesn't exist. I'm amazed at how many trails there are out here in Tucson Mountain Park and Saguaro NP. I've been using the google maps to see where they go and stuff but no names on most of them..
