Something around Prescott?
Can anyone point me at a good short backpacking trip around Prescott? I'm looking for an overnighter next weekend and would like to find something with about a 5 mile hike in and not at an elevation that could be buried in snow. I've spent the night up on Granite Mountain a few times, but I think with that with the weather this weekend and the forecast for next weekend, it could be too snowy. Soooo....any thoughts on something up that way. Really anywhere north of Phoenix by a couple of hours would be great. Oh,the ability to have a campfire would be great, too....but definitely not a requirement.

Re: Something around Prescott?
So this isn't exactly in Prescott, but with the snow and cold weather on tap for this week you might want to look at West Clear Creek. There's a few comments about it at the end of another recent thread.

You can basically make the hike as long as you want, and there's ample spots to set up camp. Fires are allowed too.

I'm not sure what my spirit animal is, but I'm confident it has rabies.

Re: Something around Prescott?
Thank God there is someone else as crazy as we are!!!
Well, you should bring them up to Prescott one of these days. We could meet and have a HAZ-Weimaraner fest! Ours love nothing more than going for a hike.
We actually have three now. One is a temporary foster for Weimaraner Rescue.
