New addition to the family
The Olesma household will have another female presence arriving in early December.
We had an ultrasound on July 17th and the doc said he was as sure as it's possible to be that we are having a girl. She is due on December 5th (as if that means anything), so Mrs. Olesma is past the half-way point of her pregnancy. We kind of wanted a boy (it would be cheaper - just give him the hand-me-downs from the monkey-boy) - but I want a girl too, so it's no big deal.
Mrs. Olesma says she's getting fat - I (and everyone else) say she looks cute (not only is it true - but I'm certainly no dummy). She's a great mommy. No troubles with the pregnancy and everything appears to be developing normally - at least as much as can be determined through a grainy B&W ultrasound.
By the way - don't bother pointing out that two of the names we have thought of come from "Bewitched" - Mrs. Olesma came up with Samantha and Tabitha - and I pointed that out to her. (She doesn't remember the show - which is simply criminal in my opinion - time to turn on "TV Land" and catch some re-runs)
Hey - at least we don't want to name her "Endora."

Since I don't know the last name, I'll have to go with the last one in the list. How the first, middle and last name sound together is important. Initials are also very important...just ask Alan Seymour Smith!

Samantha and Tabitha are cute names
, remind Mommy that the weight comes off, the health of the baby is what is important, and that everyone thinks pregnant women are cute. I had my last two babies in my thirties, my first pregnancy, I had turned 21 shortly before he was born. After my first child, I waited ten years before I decided to have two more, and those two were only fourteen months apart, it was like having twins! It was much harder to get the weight off after having two babies only fourteen months apart, and it took a lot more effort than it had before, when I was in my early twenties. Determination and a supportive Husband (which, I know you are) will be all she needs, lots of love, hugs and kisses from her husband helps too, even if she pushes you away, it's the thought that counts

Thanks guys.
Rick - my wife actually likes the name Baily - but I vetoed it.
Last name is McLain - so all the names work with the given initials.
I have to say that I'm very dissapointed with my parents. They considered naming me David Andrew - which I think would have been just great. Then they thought Jared Andrew - which would have been equally cool.
Instead I get Todd for a middle name. What a bummer.

I knew an extremely sexy Taylor just after moving to the area. She was gorgeous. We dated for a while, but an old boyfriend of her's foiled my attempts at anything further. Grrrr...JimmineyGrl wrote:I think Taylor is a great name for a girl. It's strong.
Thanks Olesma for digging up old 'growls'.

Hey! Don't get any ideas buddy!HikerInGilbert wrote: May she grow to be a sexy Taylor McLain.

I have to say that any scenario involving my daughter and persons of the opposite gender frighten the hell out of me. But I have a plan....
When the young man comes to the door asking for my daughter, he will be invited in to the kitchen, where I will be cleaning my guns (preferably a large gauge sawed off shotgun - or a VERY large hand gun). I will put my gun gently on the table, sit him down and in a quiet voice, very politely grill him. The final question will be to ask him where he is taking my daughter that night. (My daughter will be schooled in this procedure and will not intervene - on penalty of grounding - will she be embarrassed? Sure, but I don't care.)
Before I terminate (oops, I mean finish) our conversation, I will look him straight in the eye - pause for a moment, then say: "You have in your care this evening, my most precious possession. I expect you to treat her with the care and respect she deserves. If for any reason her virtue or her life is threatened tonight, I expect you to lay down your life in defense of her. Anything less is unacceptable."
One more long pause.....
"Now then...what time did you say you would have her back home?"
I cannot wait to give that speech. The scary part is - that is not an original speech. I was given that speech by the father of a girl I dated. It had the desired effect on me - and I have high hopes it will have the desired effect on any would-be suitors of my daughter. My only original addition is the part about the guns. And don't worry - I've had this speech in my head for over 15 years - I'm not forgetting it anytime soon.
