Well it tried to rain here last night but it all evaporated as it fell. It was nice to get a few drops falling on us as we walked. Maybe the trend will become stronger and we'll get some real old time thunderstorm rain.

It worked in east mesa. we got over an inch in less then half an hour, preceeded by a blinding dust storm that has turned my pool into a swamp!
I almost took the kayak down the rapids going down my street!

Pray for more today!

Gosh, I thought dust storms were half the fun! I was watching a tree in my back yard yesterday when a stake broke, releasing one of it's anchor lines. I lost a tree that way last year so I grabbed rope and tied it off to one of my porch uprights. I figured if the storm took out the upright, it could HAVE the tree!! The stake came with a tree staking kit from Home Depot. It was plastic but about 1" X 1" and 7 inches long. Now it's only about 2 inches long. I'm always impressed by the winds we get with the monsoons!

I remember my first monsoon storm. A large trash bin rolled by my window. Every year there's always a row of telephone poles snapped off in the valley. Nature is pretty awesome! It sure would be great if we could get some more rain now! Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain.

For violent nature it's hard to beat the experience of a Tornado. I've experienced 2 hurricanes, 3 earthquakes, rain that lasted for 2 weeks straight and flooded the hell out of everything (up to my waist in most areas), drought, sand storms in Saudi Arabia that lasted for days - but nothing scared the krap out of me like a tornado. I've lived through 8 of them - and I hope I never see another one as long as I live.

Tornados - natures big whooping stick.

Olesma, where'd you come across tornados. We had 'em when I was growing up. I've watched about 5 or 6 of them. I was close enough to one to have grass, bushes, and branches crossing the road around me. That was at night though so I couldn't make out where it was in the dark. I much prefer tornados to hurricanes and earthquakes. You can watch and sometimes avoid a tornado. On earthquakes there's nowhere to run to, nowhere to hide.
