Guthrie Fire still burning in Coronado Forest

Post by Jeffshadows »

Guthrie Fire still burning in Coronado Forest

A fire burning in the Coronado National Forest near Tucson has burned 400 acres.
The lightning-caused Guthrie fire is now 20 percent contained.
The U.S. Forest Service says that due to dry conditions, the fire is gaining acreage.
Fire bosses are managing the fire as it burns away excess fuel that can lead to a catastrophic wildfire.
The fire continues to slowly spread in all directions, with moderate fire behavior during the middle of the day becoming inactive at night and in the morning.
Smoke from the Guthrie Fire could be seen from the greater metropolitan Tucson area Thursday.

Named after Guthrie Mtn., a popular hike for peak baggers, I assume?
