I need to get out of the city.
Topo and I are planning on hiking into Reavis Ranch on Saturday afternoon, and just staying one night. We need some camp fire time and relaxation. We would love to have some company, probably hike in from the Tortilla Flats area, or even from the Angel Basin side...doesn't matter much to us.
I might have a friend come along, who has never backpacked before...so that should be interesting!

I'm in. Woof.
I go wherever Dirt4Dinner goes...sometimes not willingly. ESPECIALLY when there is catclaw low to the trail. I have to deal with that at home (the real thing actually...stupid cat)...I don't need it on the trail!

map says 6 miles, 6.5 max. the descent from roger's trail down into angel basin keeps your navigation skills up to date, and is known for its catclaw.
the route im taking is 9 miles

Yeah....I've done that "trail". I will think about it. I hate that section between angel basin and the top of that pass.

Re: Reavis Ranch 10/10/09 overnight
Well, unless you go in via Roger Canyon TH, you have to do that section. If you take JF to Angel Basin you're doing the same half as starting from Woodbury. FYI JF to Fish Creek via Frog Tanks is 11 miles including the roadwalk from the Apache Trail. JF is pretty overgrown, as is Tortilla Pass-Angel Basin, so you picked a pretty prickley route for Topo.
