Supes Ridgeline Sat Dec 12, 2009

Post by BobP »

I did this one last year from Carney springs. I want to do this from Lost Dutchman this time. This may be broken into two groups..Those shuttling and those who want to do an out and back ridgeline(sunrise about 7:20 am sunset 5:20 pm). Click the link above for info on this hike.

Edit:

Shuttle = from Carney Springs

Out and Back = from Lost Dutchman

It all depends on shuttles, etc. Last time we met in Mesa at 630am and carpooled and set up shuttle...started hiking at 8am. An out and back would have to start the night before with a link up with the group in the morning.

Man I was just looking up at the ridgeline today... aching to get up there again.

Do I sense an annual holiday ridgeline tradition in the making?

Bob, if you wanted to do an out and back. Why not steal Wally's idea of just taking Gold Mine Trail to Crosscut, back to lost dutchman state park. I might be convinced to do it that way as an out and back. No way Im going to want to descend the ridgeline and then immediatley ascend it again.

Did you want to do the shuttle, or an out and back?

Just to make things clear....as I may have confused a few people. If I do an out and back, I will start from Lost Dutchman(probably at 11pm-midnight) and meet the group at Carney Springs. This way the shuttle will already be set up :D ... depending on the group size. Otherwise, it will be same as last year...sorry for the confusion. :)

did you really want to do an out and back this time? I might consider it if you really want to do it. Well it wont be totally the same as last year right? starting from LD instead of Carney if we do just a shuttle?

I have someone else interested in a out and back also, but can't commit yet. The out and back would start from LD...but the regular shutlle hike would be from Carney to LD just like last year(this way the sun is to our backs for the most part). The out and back would meet up with the Carney shuttle group at Carney.

Can you give me some info on how this all works.
First off read all the warnings..this website is a place where hikers meet and plan hikes. This is a hobby for everyone and everyone is ultimately responsible for themselves. That being said..obviously safety is the key here I've done this hike and so have others that are commited and we will lead. Some people carry two-way radios..personally I don't(but if you have them, I'll carry one). As the hike gets closer, I'll post in this thread and will PM all those who are commited for carpools and meetup. This is a very strenous hike and you'll need to carry a lot of water. Read the hike description and triplogs and make sure your capable. If anyone wants to do any warmup hikes,PM me when your available and maybe we can hike something prior to this. People will hike this at all different speeds, and the group will probably be split at times.

It only matters if you think it counts. :)
The hike is 11.5 miles and 4500 AEG.
It sounds like you know your ability.
