Water on Sycamore Canyon Wilderness Loop

Post by NautBrad »

Anyone know of the current water situation along the Dogie, Sycamore Canyon, Taylor Cabin, Casner Mtn Loop?
I am planing a 2 night backpacking trip up there Nov 21-23rd.

I contacted Coconino Forest Service, they initally said there is no water sources running now, but on further questioning said they really didn't know. They did not have any current reports on that area.

I am hoping to find some water along Sycamore creek.

I have the same question about Sycamore Creek, and am supposed to hike the Dogie Trail tomorrow. I'll try to let you know if the creek has water in it at the terminus of the Dogie Trail.

I should have looked at the dates you planned on. Good luck with that. Post some Beta if you go.

We hiked Dogie and searched around the creek area but found no water. We spent the night at the camp sites just above sycamore creek and hiked back out in the morning with just enough water to spare.

There is a deep pool in the creekbed just south of Taylor Cabin that generally holds water most of the year. It was 8'+ deep in late April, and about 30' across. Also in April, I filled, and carried back to the cabin, three 6 gallon jugs of water that may or may not remain.
