Or more specifically May9-18th. I am looking for a vehicle shuttle possibility. I will post also on some Utah boards. I am considering a Dark Canyon top to bottom backpack if weather ( snow pack and TH access, mud) cooperates. Both TH's involve dirt road driving and are somewhat remote so I can't count on hitchhiking on this one.
If not I have plan B in the San Rafael Swell.
Thanks.
Anybody going to southern Utah in May??

RR44 (or do you prefer the more formal R-R-44???),
I see you hiked Muddy Creek and kayaked the Dirty Devil River last May. Did you get Utah out of your system, or might you be persuaded to give Southern Utah a second trip. My buddy Kathy is always on me to lead another expedition back to SU, so would you be interested if those plans come to fruition? Kathy and I and a couple of other girls hiked the Boulder-Mail Trail to Death Hollow and down the Escalante River back to Escalante last June. Now Kathy is pushing me to do Dark Canyon or the San Rafael Swell this time (surprise, surprise!!!). Since I'm something of a "hot weather guy", I'm thinking of holding off to April or May. Whadda yah think? Interested?

Re: Anybody going to southern Utah in May??
I plan on being in Southern Utah ( my 15th straight year of going there) in May but the time frame may change due to work scheduling. I am not sure what I will be doing. Dark Canyon is excellent, and I have hiked upper and lower and would love to do a backpack from the top to bottom--- or do Dirty Devil as a backpack and pack raft, and take more time to explore.
Whatever is done up there is great. I am not much on group hikes so can't commit and esp this time around.

Sounds like fun, if only I could get that much time off and a much better vehicle...well I can dream. Take lots of great photos to make us all jealous.
