Best Beer Brewed in Arizona...
Starting the topic that our own Indiana Jones silhouette recommended on a photo comment.
I want to vote for some Tucson contenders... I have been thoroughly enjoying the Citrus Blonde at the Barrio Brewery. Besides, I really just love hanging on the patio and getting a discount on my beer when the train goes by...

Re: Best Beer Brewed in Arizona...
Review: it's definitely dangerously drinkable. Who would guess it's so high in alcohol content? It does have a noticable sweetness to it but it doesn't last (eg a fruit beer). It has a slightly smoky caramel flavor. And I'll rate it a solid 8. Maybe 9. I may have to sample it some more before coming to a final conclusion.chumley wrote:Beer Update! (From the Four Peaks Facebook page)Because dangerously drinkable are my two favorite words! This year's Winter Wobbler will be available tomorrow for $5 a pint. It will be a Strong Scotch Ale and will be clocking a pretty substantial 8.7% ABV. This baby will have a mild sweetness to it and very low bitterness and is dangerously drinkable!

Re: Best Beer Brewed in Arizona...
So I'm sitting on the patio at 4 peaks enjoying their current seasonal, the double knot. It's a 9.2% extra hoppy version of their regular hop knot, and I'm giving it 4 stars. I think it's better than the hop knot!
And it doesn't hurt that it's raining, the heaters are on, it's cheese puff day, and they have free HAZ access! (wifi)

Re: Best Beer Brewed in Arizona...
Barrio Brewery has a seasonal they're calling - oh, I can't remeber more than "Dunk" or something like that (and their web page is down, so I can't check). Anyhow - they described it as a dark hef.
Yummy, almost chocolaty goodness. Think I'll go get one after work today! As my reward for sticking it out. Ooh - and it's a new month, too. I can get a burger!

Re: Best Beer Brewed in Arizona...
I have travelled the world, hit up many many brewelrys and I just can't find anything I like more than the Nut Brown Ale from Oak Creek. I have driven to Sedona just to fill my growler...a couple times (I think I have a problem).

Yes, you live too far away from your favorite beer.Dirt4dinner wrote:(I think I have a problem).

Re: Best Beer Brewed in Arizona...
ok, if we talk about beer outside AZ - the hands down winners are dogfish head 90 minute and stone arrogant chums. there is nothing here by any local brewery that i like more. hopnot from four peaks is a nice pale, but you wont find it in bottles.Dirt4dinner wrote:I have travelled the world, hit up many many brewelrys and I just can't find anything I like more

Re: Best Beer Brewed in Arizona...
perhaps soon though. Four Peaks is taking advantage of a new state law that allows craft brewers to make more beer .... and have installed all kinds of new equipment this past year. I don't know if they're just going to be sending kegs to more bars or distributing to more stores.te-wa wrote:hopnot from four peaks is a nice pale, but you wont find it in bottles.
4P has their own canning line and I wouldn't be surprised to see CANS of Hop Knot sold at the brewery in the very near future with the newly added brewing capacity (bottles to follow?). Its one of their most popular beers.
Also, if you like Hop Knot and haven't tried the Double Knot (twice the hops, 9.2% alc ... deliciously tasty), it's available again starting next week. Check it out.

Re: Best Beer Brewed in Arizona...
i was told that hop knot is only sold in store, because it is the biggest seller and they would lose in-store bidness (read: food sales too!) and distribution would likely cost a bit of the pie.
i'll look into the double knot. I know that Sunbrew is in cans, correct?

Re: Best Beer Brewed in Arizona...
Grand Canyon Brewing Company is distributing beer in cans and bottles up here, as well as on draft at Antelope Point Marina. I don't like it as much as Oak Creek, but I'll generally drink AZ beer before picking up something not brewed locally.
