It's Beanfest time again! The Spring 2010 Beanfest will be held Saturday and Sunday, April 24 and 25, 2010, at the Isle of You campground, in the west Cochise Stronghold.
I am planning on sport climbing at Sweet Rock and Trad Rock on Saturday. I will be with a group planning to put up many routes for people to top rope. These people are very nice people with all different levels of experience. I would be happy to climb with anyone interested in going. (PM me with questions)
The pot-luck style dinner/bonfire is quite nice, it is Mexican themed but tradition says they supply the beans. I went to the fall beanfest and I was surprised how nice everyone there was, I only knew a few people. I won't be over indulging in the celebration, I will be going to bed at a decent time as to be up early for my day two: Epic multi-pitch. There are many areas to hike and explore here including Sheep's Head which has classic multi-pitch climbs with a walk off which means you can also hike to the top. http://hikearizona.com/photo.php?ZIP=116496
I don't have a computer… Not because I'm against having one. Really just hasn't been a top priority on my gear list.

I don't get it... Why uh-oh?
I had a recent experience when John finally told me he came to climb at PRG because of a comment I made. I just wish he would have been more direct: " Hi hikergirl81! I am here to climb with you." when I had first met him. It got me thinking, I certainly don't want to push my passions onto anyone but if there are people that would like to try but are intimidated, I'd like to help them get started. I was very intimidated when I first started, I also didn't realize how friggen rewarding it would be! I'm in the best shape of my life and meeting tons of great, nice people! I still love to hike but now I often do it with a 35lb pack; 70m rope, gear, h20 etc.
Ok, so there it is; my motive for anything I post, climbing related, on HAZ. :A1:

PS: I'm going with a group but I'd like anyone who's interested in climbing to come along. All you need is a harness and shoes, I may have stuff to borrow too. Day 2 I will be less available to help because I'll be doing multi-pitch.
I'll extend my gym offer again, here you can rent gear. Just PM me because my schedule has changed a bit, PRG Wednesdays I think for a bit, maybe AZR Thursdays, but I'm not sure. For the hikers that do not get the gym thing: this is how you get stronger, and develop technique to use outside. It's also great for meeting the people to climb with.

In response to some of the PM's: We are meeting to discuss it more at Phoenix Rock Gym on Wednesday at 7pm. If you're even considering it you should join us, you'll probably find people to carpool with. If you can't make it to the gym Wed, still join us down there!

my friend is running a mud run or something in the morning on sat. if we leave after that we would be down there around mid afternoon. is there going to be people around to help set up ropes so we would be able to climb on sunday?
also, do you have any type of directions, and what is the road like?
i will try and make it to prg tonight, we had planned on going to climbmax, so i will see.
So does anyone know what a mud run is??
PS Julia Chaos and I did meet him at PRG. She is kicking some serious butt, way to go!!
