Wondering if anyone is interested in the following one way driving trips with day hikes. I'd drop you off at a large airport so you can fly home. (Or, I guess you could fly round trip out to SJC and start trip with me, too). See bottom for person I'm looking for.
Possibly too strange for y'all, apologies if this doesn't belong.

1. When: Last week Sept 2002 / first week Oct 2002.
Meet: somewhere between NorCal and NM.
End: Probably Albuquerque, NM
Key themes: cheap (camping/hostel-based), no tourist stuff, see-what-we-come-across wanderer's attitude, and FUN
I'll be driving from Northern Calif. through AZ to White Sands, NM in late Sept; need to be at Alamagordo/White Sands area by October 4th (will return to ABQ Oct 6). I've done this drive before, stopping at the Grand Canyon, Sunset, Wupatki, Sedona, etc. This time I'm considering taking the high road from GC and checking out those little dots that run along the AZ/UT and NM/CO border before turning south for Albuquerque, but I could be convinced to a different trip (I'm pretty flexible with the route).

1.5 When: week of 13 October 2002
Meet: somewhere between ABQ and Nor Cal
End: Flagstaff, PHX, or Burbank/LAX, or SJC/SFO
This is basically return trip of above.

2. When: First week of December 2002
Meet: somewhere between Grand Canyon and California
End: Burbank / LAX (So Cal) or SJC/SFO (Nor Cal)
Key themes: cheap, hostel-preferred, camping ok, let someone else cook, slow re-entry to civilization, see-what-we-come-across attitude, and fun!
I'll be on the return drive from a 100 mile GC backpacking trip, looking to fill up on AZ and the high desert for a few months. Possible CA-side destinations are Mojave (and caverns), or just hang out in scratch-in-the-dirt towns in the middle of nowhere.

YOU:
Non-smoker, no drugs (including pot), little or no drinking (for this trip). Tolerant of randomly pulling over for a photo. Over 18, otherwise any age welcome. Not secretly hoping to find a soul-mate / girl friend / one week fling. Generally able to figure stuff out on your own. Generally willing to do a trip like this on your own but interested in doing so with some companionship. Doesn't need 8 hours of sleep every night, but able to enjoy sleeping in. Moves 2mph to 4mph when trying to get somewhere. Dog ok, if well trained and you have some kind of crate. Bonus if you can drive a stick.
ME:
Female and 27, generally all of the above "you" descriptions. One speeding ticket (in AZ, outside of Parker), no accidents, consciencious driver with well maintained truck. Usually do these trips alone, wondering if anyone wants to share in the experience.
