Rabid Fox Alert

Post by fotogirl53 »

Flagstaff media is reporting several rabid fox encounters in the area of Mount Elden, including the Fat Mans Loop, Elden Springs and Elden Lookout Trails. After attacking people and dogs on these trails, at least 2 foxes have been captured and tested positive for rabies, after attacking people and dogs. The area will be patrolled and off-leash dogs will result in the owner's getting fined. Hikers were advised to avoid this area until the rabies outbreak is handled.
Allergic to cities.

When did Joe change his avatar? Well, it's more recent than the one that was like 12 years old anyway...

There are signs posted in Buffalo Park in Flag about this, but there are still plenty of people who let their dogs run free there. Hard to understand what they're thinking.

I see GFD rangers much more often than I see NFS rangers. And I've never seen either outside of a vehicle or ranger station.
I'm not sure what my spirit animal is, but I'm confident it has rabies.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - Thousands of packets of edible rabies vaccines are being dropped by air over parts of Coconino County.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture operation is an effort to cut the rate of rabies in wildlife in and around Flagstaff.

Most of the nearly 130,000 vaccine packets will be dropped from aircraft, while staff and volunteers will distribute the rest to more populated areas starting Wednesday.

The air drops began a day earlier in a 1,433 square-mile area with gray foxes as the target.

The county health department says rabies poses a danger to local pets and potentially their owners.

Seems to me they should be dropping these rabies snacks on an annual basis and not waiting until there are enough rabid animals to cause attacks and concern.
