Advice on Passage/Hitching Ride from Private Rafting Trip
I am planning a trip in October down Nankoweap. We hope to find a private rafting party on October 29 or October 30 to provided passage (to hitch) (to float) us down the Colorado River about 5 miles to the convergence with the Little Colorado, and then hike out Beamer and Tanner to the South Rim. I would prefer to try to make contact with the private party BEFORE the trip, so I can arrange the pickup (the meeting), and I am wondering if anybody knows how to find out the names the parties with permits for a private trip down the Colorado. Or, if someone actually knows a group (private party) floating down during that time period.

I sent you an email. I'll talk with you later. Will NPS let you use those little floaty arm thingies?

You might post your request on http://dir.groups.yahoo.com/group/gcpba ... =dir&slk=1 and see what shakes out. Quite a few less rafters on the river in late October vs. summer, but you may have some luck. Almost zero commercial raft traffic in late October.
