Best Mexican Food - White Mountains
OK so that this one doesn't get lost in the Miami/Globe/Superior discussion, I am proposing
Sal and Teresa's Mexican Restaurant - Show Low, AZ
as the best Mexican Food in the White Mountains. Based on things I've heard. I've never eaten there, but it is now on my list.
Any debate?

Re: Best Mexican Food - White Mountains
When I lived in Alpine, the only Mexican food was the bean and cheese burrito at the Bear Wallow. Awful. Take that off the list, if it is on it.

My sweetie and I ate at El Cupidos in Pinetop on our first weekend together two years ago and I thought it was good. It's a small place that looks like a house. Of course Love is blind.

Re: Best Mexican Food - White Mountains
i can tell you to avoid booga red's for mexican - except i love that name: booga red's = love it. i'll go there just so i can say that i went there. i think that ssk44 has a great idea - i love the los dos molinos in phoenix, so that's gotta be good.
There are just two switchbacks left. And another half-mile to the destination...

Los Dos Molinos rocks! I will warn my fellow HAZ'ers, however, that asking for the "hot" salsa may result in a religious experience. The good news is that it frequently results in the ordering of more margaritas to cool the fire in one's mouth. Their carne adovada chimichanga is one of the finest Mexican food dishes I've ever had.

Re: Best Mexican Food - White Mountains
The locals in Springerville hate Los Dos Molinos - I recalled this from when I lived in Alpine. Liz confirmed this on my visit, but it is apparently because the locals hate anything spicy.

Re: Best Mexican Food - White Mountains
They like some hot food, but not the flavor there, and say it is too hot. It is too hot for me, too, but you can ask the waitress to tell you what is not hot. Also, it is more the California style, instead of the New Mexico style, which locals prefer.
Incidentally, it is frequently NOT OPEN, and the phone number is unlisted. So, you just have to luck out. If you pick up their business card, however, it has the phone number on it, and if you have a large party and make a reservation ahead of time, they will be open for you. It is almost never open during the winter months.

I have never been to the one in Springerville. I go to the locations in Mesa and Phoenix. I can only assume that the flavor would be similar. Los Dos Molinos is for people that enjoy spicy mexican food.PageRob wrote:The locals in Springerville hate Los Dos Molinos

Did you know there is a location in New York City as well? Strange but true. http://www.losdosmolinosnyc.com/

Re: Best Mexican Food - White Mountains
Not sure of the name but it's related to one of the Globe Mexican restaurants. It's located across the street from the Walmart and Show Low hospital. It's set back from the road and on a small hill

Oh, shoot, can't remember the name of it, but every time I go by there I think about eating there. Have heard from others it is good. Casa somethingo? La Casita? (Looked it up in the yellow pages...there is a La Casita on White Mtn. Blvd. in Show Low, and the address puts it fairly close to the hospital. Not sure it's the one you are referring to, which I can picture in my mind.
I don't eat in restaurants too often.

Re: Best Mexican Food - White Mountains
I've always enjoyed Fiesta Mexicana. When I was doing a project in Show Low in 2006, we ate there frequently - then I returned with my husband a few times in the following years. Haven't been there in some time, however...

Ok, summer's coming. I just want to say that if you are going for breakfast in Springerville that the huevos rancheros at Java Blues on Main Street are hands-down the best huevos rancheros I have ever eaten!

I'm keeping an eye on this thread. I don't figure on eating a lot of meals up that way, so I want to choose carefully.

I've heard a rumor about a photo floating on the interweb of somebody that looks just like me dressed in a French maid's outfit with flippers and wearing motorcycle googles.PLC92084 wrote:@Alston Neal
