San Francisco Peaks
So my brother and I have been looking at San Francisco Peaks for a 3 day 2 night hike instead of Cabin Loop Trail next Friday. Anyone have any suggestions on a good 3 day 2 night hike? Also we do not want to bring any climbing gear with us on this trip, thanks a lot everyone for your help. I know we want to do Humphreys Peak somewhere during the hike.

Re: San Francisco Peaks
I believe there is already a thread about this somewhere. Backpacking in the Peaks, some of the trails are closed after the big fire. You may have to carry water in the Peaks, also. Humphreys Peak is a crowded dayhike.

Bummer, does anyone have any suggestions for a great 3 day 2 night trip then? Somewhere within 3-4 hours of Tempe? Thanks everyone

Re: San Francisco Peaks
Grant Creek--Steeple Mesa is closed. There was a big fire there in June and July, called the Paradise fire, (which was discussed to death on this very forum.) There is another loop near there, the KP Loop, which is open, or Bear Wallow Wilderness in the same area. Or Black River Mainstem, same general area. All of these are kind of further than you said you wanted to go.nonot wrote:A few appear to have done this one. At the upper edge of your driving time. http://www.hikearizona.com/decoder.php?ZTN=224
Why did you decide against Cabin Loop? I haven't done it but it sure looks nice in the photos. If I was looking for something closer to Phoenix, I think I would check that out.
