Boucher-Hermit anyone?

Post by azbackpackr »

I have 3 slots open on a Boucher-Hermit permit. Oct 23-26. Also the night of Oct 22 will be spent near the park.

Permit calls for 2 nights Boucher area, 1 night Hermit camp. 21 mile loop, plus optional side hikes.

Experienced backpackers, prefer experienced Canyon backpackers. PM me if interested.

Just found out my wife is likely going to be out of town that weekend, so I might be able to join!

We have a R2R2R permit for that weekend or I would be tempted to join you.

Oh, well! We will wave at you from down the river! I have another friend who has a Hermit-BA permit.

This should be a good one. Not too long under the saddle, with several nice side hikes, sans saddle.

Drat! I'm not sure if you've filled these slots yet, but I would have loved to go since I have yet to do the Boucher Trail and the Tonto between Boucher and Hermit! I have friends visiting from New England at that time and we'll be day hiking in the Canyon on Monday (25th) and Wednesday (27th), probably down Hermit and upper section of Boucher out to Yuma point and back, and Grandview, down to Horseshoe Mesa and then some miscellaneous scrambling. An alternative would be Tanner, down to the redwall and back.

Keep me in mind after that though, if you end up doing another trip....as long as you don't mind a 62 year old geezer tagging along. I can supply experience and physical fitness references if needed. :D

We'll be coming out on Bright Angel on the 25th. Hartmut is visiting from Berlin and we are doing a leisurely R2R2R with dinner at Phantom Ranch on 10/24 to celebrate his 68th birthday. If he wears his lederhosen you'll know who we are. :sl: Or just look for old farts limping up the hill.

Weather forecast is iffy, but if it is dry we are talking about doing Waldron, either in or out. Page Rob, did you get my pm about that idea?

LOL...the lederhosen is a tip off, but the "old farts" doesn't narrow it down much. Hell, that could be me on any particular day.
