I'm Back without success.

Post by jeremy77777 »

Well, I was gone for a month long cross-country hiking trip through the beautiful white mountains. One of my primary objectives was to get pictures of the weird altar I found last time I was out there. But alas, I could not find it. I searched for days around the area I thought it might be in but all I found was an old rundown cabin that looked to be about 50 years old. I got rained on plenty though. I am talking "soaked to the bone" wet. One day it rained hard all day long. It sure was nice. I hadn't been hikng for that lenght of time for about 3 years. I forgot what it was like. I loved being in the middle of nowhere. Not another soul around for miles and miles. I saw plenty of wildlife. From bugs to bears. The weather was perfect during the day and very cold at night. I lost about 15 pounds too. Nothing like bare rations and 10 hours a day of hiking to help you out with your weight loss goals. Maybe I should make a workout video to sell. But anyways, I'm back. Too bad I don't have any boogie man or blair witch stories to tell. I'll get'em next time though! :gun:

Aside from your primary goal I'd have to say your adventure was a success. sounds like you had a great time.

A month hiking alone in the mountains? Was this backpacking, or did you base camp and explore from there?
Jeremy, me lad, you sound like my kind of guy!

Yeah, I was just backpacking. When you have a base camp, you are limited in where you can go. If anyone ever wants to experience true freedom, Take some time off, take a gps, and head off into the wilderness. It is truly amazing.

I do have many many pics. I just have to wait for them to be developed. I was going to bring my digital camera, but I didn't want to chance it. There should be some great ones though. Can wait to show them to everyone! :D

Jeremy,
I'm still tripping on a month-long backpack. How did you handle the logistics? Did you cache food ahead of time? Periodically go out for supplies? Live off the land? What did you do about transport - was there another vehicle somewhere, or did you do a big loop?
I've never done such a long backpack, and I'm really interested in how you managed it.

I'm just posting this so it doesn't roll of the end before I learn how you planned it all out.
