The book "Hiking Arizona's Superstition & Mazatzal Country" has information about it. The book rates it as moderate, 12.4 miles round-trip, 2,030 feet elevation gain. It takes you to the confluence of the Verde and East Verde rivers.

I also found limited information at these links

A friend of ours hiked it not long ago. He was hiking it as a part of a project to document various "river access points" for the Wild and Scenic Verde River. The road to the TH is pretty bad. He said the first part of the trail is a little sketchy but it is easy to follow as it drops off the edge of the mesa. He said it didn't appear to have had any maintenance but it was pretty much OK, at least relative to other such rough trails in this area.
If you really want to know more I can put you in touch with our friend. Send a PM so we can start some dialog.
