Fire: Hiker rescued from remote Camelback Mountain cliff
Reported by: Chris Kline
Last Update: 3:15 pm
PARADISE VALLEY, AZ - It took rescue crews more than 2 hours to find and help down a hiker trapped at the edge of a cliff on Camelback Mountain Friday afternoon.
According to Phoenix Fire Department Spokesperson Alex Rangel, the man was stuck about 300 feet up from the main Echo Canyon Trail off McDonald Drive, just east of Tatum Blvd.
It's unclear how the hiker got off the main trail and onto the precipice.
Rangel said the rescue was difficult because of rough terrain and the remote location of the hiker.
The condition of that hiker remains unknown at this point, however video showed him moving around right before the rescue.

Walked. (Just guessing). I think the relevant question is probably "why", rather than "how", although "curious" probably answers that well enough. Anyway, I'm glad all seems well and hope the hiker learned something from the experience.

I think they mean "knee".

PHOENIX -- Rescue crews had to air-lift a 55-year-old man off Camelback Mountain Monday morning after the man blew out his knew at the top of the trail.
Rescuers hiked up the mountain to stabilize the man, who was not able to put any weight on his injured leg. They opted to bring in the helicopter, which made the rescue go relatively quickly.
Bruce Haffner talked to the pilot who flew the injured man down.

Re: Camelback Rescue
I'm glad his knew didn't blow out, that's usually fatal. Having once blown a knee on the trail, I can sympathize. Fortunately, I managed to hobble out with only the aid of my poles, but I suspect he was a little worse off.Dave1 wrote:I think they mean "knee".

Re: Camelback Rescue
I'd pay a pretty penny for a set of knew knees.
