That was taken at about 5 or 6 am in Fountain Hills, in an area close to the McDowells. Anyone know what kind of kitty it is? :?:

Yep, that's a bobcat. Specifically, a desert bobcat, "Lynx Rufus Baileyi".

Lucky person

Post by montezumawell »

Your client is incredibly lucky:
1)To see the cat
2) To be able to get a camera and hold it steady
3) To have the cat look at the camera
4) To have been awake and by the window in the first place
5) And, finally, not to faint plumb over just thinking about their incredible luck!

That's simply the most amazing bobcat sighting I've ever heard about, with proof in living color.
We've only seen two and they were bobcats leaping across a road in front of the car so, by definition, a mere few fleeting seconds. The cats are SOOOO smart and their sight and hearing is so great, it's almost impossible to see them for any length of time. They are pretty easy to identify when they are running because their legs are so long, they kinda look like a "jacked up cat."
Maybe a cat with a "lift kit." Or is that "lift kitty?" Aw, never mind. Congrats!

Yeah that is really cool! I've never seen a wild bobcat, how incredible it was that close to the window.
