1st Annual Brown Bag Challenge! (The BBC)
It's official! We were hoping to do this in Oct. but I had a wedding, and a new job in the way. So it's on for the first weekend in Nov!
Rules: Your "backpack" or "bag" has to be a brown grocery bag (handles are ok). You can use duct tape to reinforce your bag as needed...but the more you use the more of a sissy you are! We will be going one night only, we can start a little late in the day, and we will be back early.
Let's go from Peralta to Charlebois and back. One night, one bag. Sweet.
Details to come on meetup point and time.
How is Topo going to haul a brown bag?

Sounds awsome! Will have to see if I can get that weekend off.

This is hilarious idea! I love it! Not going to participate, but would love to see the photos of the brown bags! Have fun with it and good luck!

There should be at least 40 people signed up by now...pansies!!
Throw you sleeping bag and a power bar in a grocery bag and let's take a walk!

Re: 1st Annual Brown Bag Challenge! (The BBC)
I tried to get this scheduled when I was out there a week and a half ago... Couldn't get anyone to commit! With the cost of gas, mine would be the most expensive bag in the competition (excluding mandatory embellishments.). If it's a hit, count me in for next year!

This does look fun but I can't go. Too many irons in the fire.

Re: 1st Annual Brown Bag Challenge! (The BBC)
My brown bag would contain:
Sleeping bag--wish I had one of those ultra ultra light and small ones.
Sandwiches and snacky food.
Light jacket or fleece
Headlamp
1 Rockstar or Red bull for morning (you do not want to know me without my caffeine!)
Water bottle and purification tablets
Would it be cheating to carry a lot of stuff in your pockets? I always do anyway. Camera, GPS, handkerchief, chapstick, etc.
I can sleep on the ground without a pad. I think.

Boy, I'd love to. Timing is very bad. Would be sandwiched between a GC backpack and Gila backpack.

Hmmm... water tablets, canteen, fig newtons, payday bars... insulated pants/parka for sleeping... pancho for groundpad. Notebook and pen.

Re: 1st Annual Brown Bag Challenge! (The BBC)
Dang it!! I forgot that we have a Reavis Ranch run on that weekend. I was thinking it was for the next. I will have to make the next one.

Re: 1st Annual Brown Bag Challenge! (The BBC)
Might not be a terrible idea to crash the party at Reavis Ranch. It's a little longer of a hike...but not that big of a deal. Something to consider if anyone has the brown bags enough to sign up!

Ok, now we hit a soft spot.

Re: 1st Annual Brown Bag Challenge! (The BBC)
You know I'm up for it (if it weren't for that pesky 1000 mile commute...). Wonder if we could get a CA contingent? The bags would have to be environmentally friendly and carbon-neutral... Probably have to give out coupons for lattes too...

Re: 1st Annual Brown Bag Challenge! (The BBC)
This is looking like a bust, maybe I just waited to long, should have done it in Oct like we had originally planned.
If I don't get at least 3 others signed up by Wen I will cancel and shot for it again towards the end of winter.

If we have to shoot for spring, I'll be in Tucson Mar 4-6 for the Steampunk Convention & Festival... I'll be looking for outdoor adventures to fill up the week. The Great Spring BBC would be an excellent adjunct!

@rlrjamy
Depending on who you talk to, I've been called a punk... also some other things that would be filtered quickly here! All I'll say is that on an extended drive my music wouldn't make you want to pour hot wax in your ears to blot out the din... (OK...maybe in the old days..)
