Backpacking gifts

Post by GrottoGirl »

Hi all,

My husband and I plan to exchange our Christmas gifts on a backpack this year. Therefore, I need ideas of what I can get him that:
- he doesn't have already (for the sake of not boring you I won't list what he already has)
- is ultra-lightweight
- is small

Any ideas???

Cheers!

Two hearted ale is great and look for hopslam by bells in late Jan and feb, it's the best beer made.

Tewa - you're spot on with the west coast ipa, green flash is another great brewer

So long as the thread has been hijacked by craft brew drinkers :oops: , I had a Santan Winter Warmer at Taste of Tops tonight. I like it. Robust malts, and some spice I couldn't quite identify... Not my favorite, but certainly unique and delicious in its own way. ABV hardly noticed. I followed it up with a Rogue Hazelnut Brown, which was :y:

Thanks, I didn't know the origin.
OK, guys... Most of you are too young to have watched first run television programs in black & white, but...
That phrase originated from a black & white TV sit-com called "Doby Gillis", starring Bob Denver (aka: Gilligan) as Maynard G Krebbs (sp?)

@snakemarks
I had thought that as well (I used to watch the show on Nick@Nite), but my dad insisted that the phrase was never actually uttered in that show. IMDB shows it as a quote, but I can't find any clips of Dobie or anyone saying it. :?

He's more of a bourbon guy.

However, if any of you were wondering what to get me for Christmas - or any day of the year, really - I'd take a six-pack of a finely crafted beer. ;)

@te-wa

I'm all for it. :y: See? Shopping for me is easy. Of course, I'm not going to put a six-pack in my backpack (I usually only carry one - two tops - and on dayhikes).

And then there's the whole topic of what to get jrnorb for his backpack...

I think this headlamp (http://www.rei.com/product/807832) is pretty darn cute.

And who doesn't need ornaments - even though i'm fairly sure they won't be having a tree since they'll be out backpacking... http://www.rei.com/product/744475
