I need a backup plan!

Post by sirena »

Well, I was all excited about doing Hermit-South Kaibab this week, but the weather looks like it's going to stay nasty up north, so I've cancelled my trip. I need a backup plan! Something within a 4-5 hour radius from Tucson. I have 4-5 days, would prefer not to get snowed on, or carry multiple days of water. Any ideas?

Have you called the BCO? I would do that same hike today, it is only just raining a little bit.

I talked to Ranger Della this morning and she said it was windy, cold, and raining, and this week was going to be more of the same or worse. She was at Yavapai and couldn't see a thing. I am not averse to rain, but don't want to spend the week huddled in my tent.

Unless you simply want to be in the Canyon, I think skipping is a good idea. Why go to the Canyon to be in cold mist and not be able to see or enjoy the place?
