Same as an Indian taco. It's fry bread with taco stuff on it. Very fattening.

I have a craving for one now! I think I'm going to get some sushi though - not quite the same in the after-hike category though.

I think I ate my last Navajo taco about 5 years ago. I no longer order them. I just plain overdid it.

Ditto the Navajo Tacos at Cameron if you are driving out of the Park at the East exit. The full-size Taco will bloat you into a coma---go with the small size. Be prepared to pass out in your vehicle. It's also a good pre-hike meal to carbo-up but beware the toxic gas resulting from beans, grease, fried dough.
Sizzler in Flag (two locations). By the time you drive down to Flag, your hunger will be sufficient to engage the buffet in a life-or-death orgy of food.
Ohh baby.

Re: Grand Canyon after hike dinner
The Indian Tacos at the restaurant in Supai are not completely edible by one person. In fact, they are barely edible at all. That is why the tribe kindly provides dogs on the outdoor lanai dining area, so that you can easily dispose of any portions you are not able to consume. The dogs do not eat the lettuce, however.

You ate the whole thing? But what about the dogs? You are supposed to give them some, too! ;)big_load wrote:I just got fry bread and refried beans there. It was pretty good.azbackpackr wrote:The Indian Tacos at the restaurant in Supai are not completely edible by one person.

WeCook Pizza in Tusayan if I'm starving, but I usually like to break up the drive back to the Valley by stopping at the Harley Roadhouse at the Bellemont exit of I-40 - Cook-your-own burgers/steaks/brats/chicken and also a salad bar; salad being something I crave most after a week in the ditch. Oh... and an AWESOME craft brew selection on tap!
This is on the way for me, as I always take the I-40/Hwy. 64 route to avoid the snafu's of Flag.

Judy and I usually hit Waswik right after we hit the rim for some quick fuel....then I've usually made reservations for El Tovar for the reward meal.

Re: Grand Canyon after hike dinner
Yesterday Jim_H and I sampled the prime rib (Jim) and the Harvey House steak (me) at Bright Angel Lodge. Pretty good, not too expensive for the steak. Plus, we didn't have to change into proper dining attire. Or, at least, we decided we didn't have to. We just got off the shuttle bus and walked in there with our packs, and I even had my poles. Slightly muddy. Hat hair (me). Crampons dangling off of large day pack. (Jim). Shivering (me). First thing I wanted was hot tea and hot soup. I could have been completely happy with just that.
