HAZ Trail ID

Post by ck_1 »

I had a thought...it might not be a good one (and if it isn't I'm sure you all will let me know :D )....but...what do you think about figuring out some way to identify ourselves as HAZ members when out on the trail...not like a name tag or anything, but, there are quite a few of us who hike the same areas, and once in a while I think I recognize someone from here, but am unsure, and don't want to come across as the psycho guy on the trail by approaching the person...it's kinda an awkward thing...

I know there are the t-shirts...however I don't know about anyone else, but I don't hike in mine...it's in the "good" t-shirt drawer, the ones without stains and such

The only thing I thought of that might work and would also be useful would be a bandana...it could be worn of course, but it could also be tied to a trekking pole or to the back of a pack, so it'd be visible to other hikers...it would have to be a distinguishable color, or have an obvious design or something like that...

I don't know...it was just a thought...I keep thinking I might be on the same trail as Joe and not know it was he, thus missing my brush with greatness :GB:

Well, I like that idea especially since I'm too new to HAZ to have a t-shirt... and since I didn't even know there were t-shirts!! Keep me posted because I would love to meet HAZers out on the trails if there was a way to know for sure.

Ditto....

I like the bandana idea! Also, how about a baseball cap or a patch that could be sown on your pack?

We could all do the Snick33 thing and go naked  Anyway, tee shirt doesn't work 'cause HAZ logo is on the back and pack covers it. We could all wear a banana in our ear..... Oops, I mean a bandana on our gear.

I like the bandana idea. That would be a great way to identify fellow HAZ members!

If I answer "Yes" can I expect to see you with a banana in your ear? :D

Oh no, that wouldn't do at all! My momma taught me to respect my elders, so first I'd help you stick one in your ear!

It wouldn't really even need to be a HAZ bandana...we could all just carry the same color one.....

Howdy this is a very cool idea. :)

If people were interested in Printing out a unique design (don't know how much it would cost?) I'd be glad to illustrate a design for free, maybe something like these:

http://www.pixelfrog.com/2001/images/re ... rise_v.jpg
http://www.pixelfrog.com/2001/images/highcountry.jpg

but in a HikeAZ Arizona-esque landscape depicting the diversity of our state. We could include the AZ flag in there somewhere to. Just a thought, may be cool, but maybe too expensive. Any printers out there know? Black and White would be much cheaper and may still be cool as well.

Nope, haven't seen any, though the first place I'd look would be the Mesa Marketplace Swapmeet.

The ones you found were at a good price though...

$2 arizona flag bandanas are hard to beat! I keep thinking of the movie "colors" with all this bandana talk.

Believe it or not... I was born and raised in L.A. where that movie "Colors" was filmed!! That was my neighborhood!! I remember what a big deal it was at the time. I also remember being the only blonde white female in school. Its funny when I take people "back home" and we have to drive thru Watts... people are always rolling up there windows and locking their doors asking me if I'm sure we're going the right way!! My grandmother still lives 1 block off Compton & Crenshaw Blvd.
