Kids Hike for Saturday

Post by Scott »

Looking for suggestions for my 4 & 7 year old daughters for Saturday. They've had enough of the waterfall trail in White Tanks. They think climbing is cool, but beautiful views and vista dont seem to register yet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. Was looking to head towards the Superstitions.

The Pine Creek Loop 280, (see TrailDEX) is a hoot for kids, just be sure you take the Northern route for both outbound and the return. The Southern route is too steep for kidlets. It's right off the Beeline, past Four Peaks approx 9.5 miles. I think the sign is down but if they repaired it, it will say Ballantine trailhead. Pine Creek meets up with the Ballantine Trail at the 1.5 mile marker. Their are some friendly cows along the way and lots of birds. It is NOT a kid proof trail but I think it's reasonably safe. Good luck.

If you haven't explored the Pass Mtn/Usery Park area, it is well worth a look. The Meridian Trail is short, and is described in the index, as is Windcave, which is longer, but with a great destination. Just down the road (Ellsworth) is the Phon D. Sutton area, with trails near the river....there were a few posts on this topic awhile back...don't know if the archives are available...

fish creek is always fun for us. Take 88 east past canyon lake and tortilla flats the road turns to dirt (well maintained) you come to a one lane bridge and you park off to the side climb up a small hill and you come to a wind cave ruined with graffiti but climb down towards the creek and its all fun. The kids can climb the huge boulders and scramble all around. great for dogs too
