Missing Boy Scout
Just saw on the news that a boy scout is missing. They didn't say exactly where they were, but it looked like the Mazatzal area on their map. Scout leader says they were playing capture the flag, and the scout's partner came back to home base and didn't know where his partner went.
Hope they find him!

GLOBE, AZ - Authorities are searching for a missing boy scout Friday morning about 25 miles northeast of Globe after he didn't return to camp during a scouting trip.
According to Undersheriff Adam Shepherd with the Gila County Sheriff's Office, 14-year-old Kevis Seymour of Queen Creek went missing around 4 p.m. Thursday during a scouting trip at Timber Camp.
The boy scouts were reportedly playing a game of capture the flag when Kevis didn’t return back to camp, Shepherd said.
Shepherd said authorities are not suspecting foul play at this time and believe Kevis just may be disoriented as to where he is.
Ground crews were out searching for him overnight and are back out Friday morning, along with a helicopter.
Check back for updates.

A 14-year-old Boy Scout who spent a night alone after getting lost in the Tonto National Forest northeast of Phoenix was found safe late Friday morning.
A state Department of Public helicopter located Kevis Seymore of Queen Creek about 11:15 a.m., after searchers - some assisted by canines and some on horseback - looked for the teen.
About the only concern after Kevis was found, a Gila County Sheriff's official said, was over water the boy had drunk out of a pond to stay hydrated.
Undersheriff Adam Shepherd said he did not have any more details about the boy's condition, or how he went missing, until the search team returned from the site of the rescue.
Kevis had teamed up with a second boy in a "capture the flag" game when he disappeared roughly about 4 p.m. The second boy returned to camp but Kevis did not, authorities said.
Fellow Scouts looked for Kevis in a 1-square-mile designated camp area but couldn't locate him; Scout leader David Ramer reported the teen missing to the Gila County Sheriff's Office around 7:45 p.m., Shepherd said.
Tonto National Forest is at a 6,000 foot elevation and is densely wooded. The park is located between Globe and Show Low.
"It's pretty easy to get lost if you're not used to the area," Shepherd said.

Does he earn his Wilderness Survival Merit Badge for this..... ;)

Glad it turned out ok, but quotes like this always make me wonder who writes for the paper? Do they live in the same state as us, and have they ever left the newsroom at 200 "EVB"?paulhubbard wrote:Tonto National Forest is at a 6,000 foot elevation and is densely wooded. Re: Missing Boy Scout
Ok. I am not sure what you see wrong in this, other than the paper definitely should have specified "Timber Camp" instead of "Tonto National Forest." Which they should have. Timber Camp, where it happened, is most definitely between Globe and Show Low, at about 6,000 feet, and is densely wooded. Also, I can see how a kid could get turned around back in there.chumley wrote:Glad it turned out ok, but quotes like this always make me wonder who writes for the paper? Re: Missing Boy Scout
Wow I remember once in scouts I actually had nearly the same thing happen to me we were playing capture the flag and I got turned around but luckily we had just had some wilderness survival training. I started panicking and then realized I just needed to sit down and think for a while after what seemed like an hour but may have only been 15 min I heard some yelling and made it toward the voices, very scary to be lost alone though especially at that age. On another note though I love the scouts too "azbackpackr" I learned more than I could have ever thought of and made Eagle Scout so thanks BSA and when I win the lotto some $ is coming your way.
