ASU Art Museum: The Photography of Andy Warhol

Post by chumley »

Since this site has a fairly significant bent on photography (and some damn good photographers), I thought perhaps some of those HAZers might be interested in the current exhibit at the ASU Art Museum.

Excerpt from the link:
Today, some people document their every mood via Twitter.

Andy Warhol used a camera, and judging by his archive, he must have spent a fortune on film. Warhol began carrying a camera every day, in approximately 1974, snapping two rolls of film a day.

Warhol photographed friends, scenes and interesting objects from his everyday life, accumulating more than 28,500 photos before his death in 1987.

Forty of those black-and-white photographs are now on display in the Multi-Purpose Room of the ASU Art Museum in a show titled “Who, What, Where: Photographs From the Andy Warhol Photographic Legacy Program.” The exhibit runs through Aug. 6.
Just like HAZ, the ASU Art Museum is free (donations accepted). Unlike HAZ, you can only visit Tuesdays 11-8, and Wed-Sat 11-5.

On a technological note, I suppose there's a difference between taking a photo and having it printed, but I'm pretty sure I have over 28,500 photos in my digital library from just the past 3 years! :o (And there's probably not a single one that somebody could mistake for a Warhol photo!)
I'm not sure what my spirit animal is, but I'm confident it has rabies.

Being a big VU fan, I've been to the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh a few times. Pretty cool place and worth the visit if you happen to be in town.
