What's the best moderate hike in Madera Canyon

Post by Frank Thomas »

I've only hiked the tougher stuff in the state, but a friend wants to see Madera Canyon for the birds and butterflys. I don't know the hikes in that area. Any suggestions for a pleasant 4-6 hour hike?

4-6 hours? We went to the top and back in <6 hours earlier this fall. But I wouldn't call it moderate. How about up the Super trail to Josephine Saddle and back down one of the other two routes? Leavengood's book on the area is excellent.

The Bog Spring Trail is a moderate trail...not exactly Madera but close enough for the birds and butterflies. Have fun!!
