MapSource multiple gps tracks

Post by trailsprinter »

New here so I hope this question hasn't been beaten to death before:

Is it possible to view multiple gps tracks on one map in MapSource? I would like to be able to see several dozen tracks at one time covering a specific geographical area.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if this is the best method but it seems to work... Copy/paste tracks from different routes into a single project. Kind of a pain because it requires you to bounce back and forth between GPS routes. Once you're finished, you've got a single file with numerous tracks overlayed on one map. It would be so much easier if you could highlight several routes then open them into the software.

@trailsprinter
I use the same method as PLC92084 to copy and paste of the tracks and/or waypoints which works good for me using my MapSource 100k or 24k software.
Do you understand what we are saying to do?

I'm back after a vacation and just now tried to copy and paste as you all suggested but I must be doing something wrong. When I try to add a second track to the first, the first disappears and is replaced by the second. Do I need to give each track a different name rather than the default "active log"?

@trailsprinter

Active log is the default name of the track your gps generates... I usually download the track to Mapsource, save the file with a name that makes sense. The track log, if there's only one, can be renamed using the Properties function. Again, I also name it something meaningful to me (Track 08-16-11, etc.). Now with everything uniquely named, open up one GPS file, highlight and copy the track you want. Next, open up the second GPS file, paste the track from the first file into it. You'll now have two unique tracks in the GPS file. If you want that to be a "Master File", change the name to reflect that (GPS Master.gpb, etc.).
