Azbackpackr planted the idea, but now is too busy to hike it, and I would like to summit once more this year, so tomorrow or Friday, I plan to hike Humphrey. I plan to go tomorrow unless someone wants to go Friday. I have the event on the calendar for tomorrow in case no one is interested.
It should be sunny and cool, but calm up on top. Perfect early Autumn weather. Yes, it it autumn. There is already widespread color around town.

Where are autumn colors better: Abineau - Bear Jaw or Weatherford Canyon?

Re: Humphrey?
Couldn't tell you. I was talking about around town for leaves. It's mostly exotics and the pines are in the early stages of leave abscission, but not the aspens on the peaks. I plan to summit Elden later today, I wonder if the recent cold weather at night will have started the trees up there on a path to color.

Re: Humphrey?
I'd think it would be awhile for the aspens to be at their truly brightest peak. Early to mid Oct. Agree? Disagree?
And, oh my, decided to edit this post. I just heard thunder rumble. It's lunchtime, late Sept. and we still have monsoon-like weather.

Yeah, I agree, and I am just so thrilled about the never ending monsoon season. It's also only around here. Anyway, the forecast for tomorrow and Friday is showing no chance of storms, but I plan to start early enough so it ought not be an issue.azbackpackr wrote:I'd think it would be awhile for the aspens to be at their truly brightest peak.
