Probably in late September or early October, maybe the 29th or 30th, or the 1st or 2nd, I want to go to the La Plata Sub-Range of the San Juans, which is just west of Durango, and summit Lavender Peak. Officially, it is shorter than it's neighbor Hesperus. Some recent measurements say it is only a few feet shorter, maybe 13, 230'.
Anyway, It's a nice 3rd class scramble on San Juan rock. I plan to backpack one night. Probably summit on the day I go in, and leave the next day. Weather permitting. Looks to be 10 miles rt with 4000' of AEG and loss. It depends on where we park, as the road in can be rough. It will be fall, so there probably will not be flowers ( summit post photos of the route are loaded with them in summer), but there may be a ton of yellow and orange aspen leaves.
FYI, this will not be on Hesperus Mt, but we have no Lavender description, I want it on the calendar, and they are right next to each other. However, while Lavender can be seen in my pics from Hesperus is 2008, the route comes up from a basin to the east, the "Tomahawk Basin". I think I may do this next year, so I'll probably do a write up after the trip after I completed the route.

If Humphrey today was any indication, the aspens should be peaking around the time of this hike. Colorado might be a little earlier than us, but I guess I'll see.
Not moving until the 30th, so postponing a day.

No interest, and if there is a storm chance, I'll just go when the weather is conducive to fun, fun, FUN! PM me if you are interested. "Canceled" is just for the calendar, I still intend to go, weather permitting.
