No real problems until final descent down last big hill before trailhead. I parked at the top and walked down. From the looks of the ruts, someone had a ton of trouble getting up. I don't get into the whole 4x4 thing, but I didn't want to take my xterra down it, let alone up.
The rest of the road was fine. I didn't engage the 4x4, though I would recommend high clearance at a minimum.

Re: Battle Axe Road to White Canyon Trailhead
Anyone been out on Battle Axe lately? I'm looking for road conditions from the corral south to the river. If you have a map, this road/track runs thru sections 19, 30 and 36. I went on the road past the corral to the west, down to the Artesian well and beyond, and that is pretty good but for the section going down to the river. I'm looking for a better route to the river.
Thanks
Thanks
Shawn

Bump
No takers?
We are taking a group to finish the AZT (Yeaaaaa) along the river and if this route would work, it would save a bunch of time and wear and tear on the vehicles.

A large section of topo map section 30 is for serious rock buggies only! --> http://hikearizona.com/photo.php?ZIP=173470 (this pic is for rock buggy ref only and is not driving in topo section 30)

Re: Battle Axe Road to White Canyon Trailhead
Thanks Hank, that cinches that. We can get there further down Battle Axe, then heading south down Walnut Canyon. Just have to take it slow.
